At HEPA 2026 we will use the Planet Positive Event tool, which will help us to organise conference in line with the ESRS Standards and measure the conference’s carbon footprint. The result of the entire process is the sustainability rating, precise calculation of the carbon footprint and the final report with recommendations for improvements. One of the tool’s features is the regenerative matrix covering all 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

Sustainable Recommendations for Conference Participants

The organizers of the HEPA 2026 conference« recognize that the largest carbon footprint from the event will result from mobility, energy use at the venue, waste, etc. With the help of the Planet Positive Event tool, we will measure the event’s carbon footprint and certify the event. The results and report will be published on the website.

We invite you to consider how you can personally contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.

10 recommendations from the Organizers:

  1. Travel sustainably, by train or bus. If this is not possible, choose an airline that invests in carbon reduction programs. Look for the shortest possible flight.
  2. Carpooling pays off. If possible, travel to the event with colleagues from your area. Sharing transport significantly reduces environmental impact and travel costs.
  3. Walk shorter distances. Move around the city on foot, use transportation provided by the organizers, ride a bicycle, or walk for short distances.
  4. Choose environmentally responsible accommodation. Stay in one of the hotels that is known for responsible environmental practices.
  5. Produce less waste. Strive to leave behind as little waste as possible. When waste is unavoidable, be sure to dispose of it properly in designated bins.
  6. Drink healthy water. Ljubljana is known for its drinkable tap water. We recommend bringing your own reusable bottle and enjoying the clean water. If you take a walk through Ljubljana after the conference, there are 77 public drinking fountains throughout the city!
  7. Be responsible with food. Indicate which meals you would like on the registration form. If your plans change and you have to cancel your participation, inform the organizers in time.
  8. Energy use at the event. We will aim to minimize energy use for heating and cooling at the venue. Dress appropriately for the season and weather!
  9. Shop mindfully. Whenever and wherever you shop during the event, choose local products and items with less packaging. Always consider carefully what you truly need.
  10. Share good practices. We would be glad if you share your environmental efforts and experiences with us and other participants. Send us your news and achievements, and we’ll share them on the conference website and in emails to participants.

Together, we can take steps toward more sustainable and responsible events!
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
